Out of the knitting drawer {Giveaway}

I really love knitting. However, for some reason I refuse to make size swatches. I won't do it and you can't make me! The result of this is I end up making the same project several times in various colors and sizes.

So it's about time I put out some good giveaway karma!

One lucky follower will win one item from my knitting drawer (is that starting to sound dirty to anyone else?). The two items I have up right now are a guitar strap and a beret. Winner chooses.

I absolutely love this beret. The colors are awesome. It's light and can be worn in any season.

I really love this guitar strap, but it is a little too long for me. It would be easy for a sewer to shorten it up a bit! It has two pegs holes, and also a string for acoustic/classical guitars. It is lined with fabric to prevent it from stretching.

In order to enter this giveaway, you MUST be a GFC follower of this blog (via the Google Friend button!) Please post a comment telling me which of the items you would choose if you won and what you would do with it.

Please make sure to include your email address so I can contact you if you win. Also feel free to leave me a link to your blog! I would like to visit!

For additional entries:
1) Facebook about this giveaway and post a link to your comment.
2) Tell me what your favorite poem is and why.
3) Tell me what your favorite vegan recipe is.

Again, make sure you are click on the google friend connect button and follow my blog before you enter this! I don't want to disqualify anyone :(
Good luck everyone! I will choose a winner randomly on April 24, 2011.

  1. I love that hat! I would totally wear it. :P

    -Helen @ amaramorgana [at] gmail

  2. I want someone who either looks good in hats or plays guitar to win (neither of which is me) and for the most part I eat meat...buuuut I did just post my new favorite poem (by yours truly) on my blog and you should read it...kinda dirty but mostly cute

  3. I would choose the beret! I would wear it all the time!

I don't know that I have a favorite poem, but song lyrics are kinda like poems. My favorite song lyrics are:
'cause a face without freckles is like a sky without stars
Why waste a second not loving who you are
Those little imperfections make you beautiful, lovable, valuable,
They show your personality inside your heart
    Reflecting who you are
The song is called "Freckles" by Natasha Beddingfield.

And I am thinking hard about this vegan recipe...probably chocolate covered strawberries!

  4. I would like to win the fabulous beret!
Just became a "follower"! Glad to have found your blog.
    xo maureen

  5. I like the strap! If I won I would proudly sling it on my acoustic guitar.

  6. I own 5 guitars and I only have 2 straps, i have 2 acoustics and 3 electrics, and 1 for each type of guitar. I would love the guitar strap!

  7. I can't do the FB thing because my privacy settings are so high, that you wouldn't even see it!

I would like the guitar strap. I'd use it for my vintage bass in this new alt-folk band that I'm in. Your strap really fits the mood of the band and I think it's be purdy durn perfect.

Oh! Poem! I always come back to Fire and Ice by Robert Frost. Mainly because it thrusts a decision before the reader about how they want to die. Which is great, because rather than ask you, "Hey, have you ever thought about death?" it just says, "Yup, death is coming, and you've got two options." Plus, I think poems should be short-small windows into an insight or place. Fire and Ice fits the bill!

    Email Thanks!

  8. I would wear your guitar strap :] I'll take a picture with it and totally point people in your direction!

  9. I am your newest follower as jhb. I would pick the lovely beret, I love the colors in it.

P.S. Maybe you'd be interested in donating something to me for our adoption journey?? I'm trying to gather items for an auction and people will pay to get entries. Make sense? Email me if you're interested!! :D

  11. I love the guitar strap! After attaching it to my acoustic guitar, i will write the best song I've ever written! Then i will be known as the kid with the coolest guitar strap in town!

  12. Love the guitar strap! I'm short a strap at the moment, so this one would definitely find a home on either my acoustic or my jazz guitar.

  13. Guitar strap for sure!!!!!!

  14. That is a really cool guitar strap. I might have to make my own if I don't win it. :P

I have an electric it would work with, but it would look better on the acoustic I plan on getting in the future.

  15. I made a soup today that could be modified to vegan. Leek, potato, and spinach soup. Saute one leek with garlic, add a diced potato and broth, then simmer for awhile. Puree and then add more broth (I added coconut milk) to desired consistency. Good and healthy.

  20. I follow you on Google Friend Connect under the name jmcharries. I would love to have the guitar strap! I have a guitar and no strap which makes it tend to slide off my lap or impossible to stand and play. This would really help a lot!

  21. I have always really liked the poem 'Richard Cory' - I will admit it is dark but it really does show you that sometimes things are really not as they seem. I good lesson about being envious of somebody else.

  22. I kind of have a sweet tooth so I love this recipe for Sugar Cookies:

    Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
    1 cup vegan margarine, softened
1 egg substitute (EnerG egg substitute)
    1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond or lemon extract
    2 1/2 cups all-purpose or wheat flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon cream of tartar

    1 cup powdered sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 to 2 tablespoons nondairy milk (I like almond milk)

    1. For cookies, mix powdered sugar, margarine, egg (prepared as per package directions), vanilla, and almond (or lemon) extract. Mix in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar.

    2. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours. Heat oven to 375 degrees F and lightly grease a cookie sheet. Divide dough into halves. Roll each half 3/8" thick on lightly floured cloth-covered board.

    3. Cut into shapes. Place cookies on prepared sheet. Bake until edges are light brown, 7 to 8 minutes.

    4. For frosting, mix powdered sugar and vanilla. Stir in milk substitute until frosting is smooth and of spreading consistency.
